The sentencing of a 28 year old convicted serial rapist and taxi driver Lebogang Gift Mokoena will begin on Monday, at the South Gauteng Court in Johannesburg.
Mokoena was found guilty on 43 charges of rape, kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances, pointing an object that resembles a firearm, aiding and abetting someone to commit an offence and sexual assault.
Mokoena and his co-accused raped eight women in total around Gauteng, which the six surviving victims were raped and robbed in a Toyota Quantum minibus taxi whilst it was in motion and the other two in an open veld, according to his plea statement.
He would rob his victims of cellphones and other valuables which he sold to a foreign national.
In some instances he would also give his victims money to take a taxi to go home.
Mokoena went on a rampage for 13 months between September 26, 2016, and October 12, 2017, before he was apprehended by the police at a home in Molapo, Soweto in October 23, 2017.
