Bafana Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter has found a replacement for Andre Arendse.
The South African Football Association confirmed on their official website that Bafana goalkeeper coach, Arendse has withdrawn from the national team setup.
“It really is a sad loss to not to have the services of Andre, whom I have worked with for a long time. It is even more difficult not to have him at such a crucial time when we are resuming our AFCON qualifying campaign, but I have to understand his situation,” Baxter said on SAFA’s official website.
“We are going into camp on Sunday (2 September), which means we don’t have time, so I have the whole of Friday (31 August) to get a replacement, and it must be someone who I believe will do the job for our last line of defence. And as soon as I have a name, we will make an announcement,” he added.
Head Coach Baxter has since called up his son, who is the current goalkeeper coach at Kaizer Chiefs, Lee Baxter to the national team, as Bafana look to begin preparations for their upcoming Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against Libya on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Baxter has since confirmed the news on his official Instagram page.
